Building the Foundation explores the unseen influences that shape who we become. Emerging from layers of earth tones, mineral blues, and textured mark-making, three faint faces appear within the composition, suggesting connection, memory, and the threads that link generations together.

Created through an intuitive mixed media process, the painting evokes the feeling of uncovering what lies beneath the surface—stories, experiences, and quiet strengths that form the foundation of our lives. Layered textures and fossil-like impressions hint at the lasting imprint of legacy, identity, and belonging.
