Renascence
- Welded Aluminum Sculpture on Concrete Base
- 252 x 250 x 144.5 in
- Ron Bennett
Renascence is a welded aluminum sculpture located on the Airport Entrance Roadway made by Ron Bennett. Bennett's work was donated to PIT by the Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania in 1980 and was commissioned in celebration of the Society's 100th Anniversary. The sculpture was relocated to the airport in 1992. The inspiration for the work was the soft nature of Pittsburgh citizens and the city’s historical booming industrialism.
This work takes the shape of an upside-down pyramid. The depth of this work is relatively thin compared to its height and width. The edges do have some curved to them as well, making this shape not strictly linear however still very triangular. There is also a grid texture to the work.
