- Sacred Beings: Emanations of Divine Mother
- Mixed Media
Artist: Denise McMorrow x
This series of thirteen mixed media paintings honors the beauty and diversity in form of the archetypal Divine Mother and is a contemporary interpretation of devotional painting inspired by icons, retablos, dreams, and journey practice. Created primarily during the COVID shut-down, Denise McMorrow felt a call to make the Divine Mother’s healing presence more visible and immediate through figural paintings that could function as portals and contemplative mirrors of the viewer’s own sacredness and resonance with Her. Many of the paintings were created with her 4-year-old daughter alongside her, and her marks are an important part of the spirit of this work, honoring the inextricable relationship between the Divine Mother and the Sacred Child.
There are 13 individual paintings in this series. Each portray an almost life-sized likeness of some sort of divine female being. Each image is strikingly colorful and has an accompanying meditation to it as well.
