The final piece and second of the large canvas paintings I have produced for the Chamber of Commerce to exhibit. The working boats in the harbour are always interesting to watch and sketch. The reflections on this day across a still sea were what initially drew me to the view. Difficult to capture an ever twinkling and moving slice of light - this is made up of many, many overlapping layers of paint. If you can see it in person (or zoom in) then you will be able to see what I am describing. I have a love/hate relationship with painting water - I love how it looks, I am excited and inspired when I start laying down the first layers - but it is so difficult to know when to stop and when you have it just so. If you overwork it, then the glittering light can easily be lost.
