‘Welcome Home’ was conceptualized after a conversation with a middle aged man who was born and raised in Portland. He spoke about growing up in the 70, 80, 90s and his need to feel like he belonged and included in the lifestyle of the streets of those times. Though associated with negative connotations, the Bloods gang offered the man a home and family. ‘Welcome Home’ utilizes 9 “cookies” from the same spruce tree and incorporates the imagery of the paisley handkerchief worn by the Bloods members.
