The population of fallow deer in the Dutch dunes is loved and reviled at the same time. They eat flowers and shrubs in peoples' gardens and rare plants in the dunes, cause traffic accidents and walk through the streets. Fences are put up and population management takes place by hunting. Does are fed birth control pills. Whatever happens, there is always someone to demonstrate in favour or against and the number of lawsuits on this subject can no longer be counted.
The deer keep on grazing as if it doesn't concern them at all.
