An all metal drawing - using goldpoint - a piece of pure gold wire on a sheet of copper prepared with lead white and calcium carbonate for the drawing ground with darker accents made with pure silver.
Inspired by the delicate drawings done by renaissance artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Cherry Branch with Lichen is an attempt at expressing the softness of drapery with the brittleness of the cherry tree branch with the limitation of using only metal drawing tools.
I am also interested in the evolution of drawings over time, this drawing will intentionally change over time, as the areas drawn with silver will gradually tarnish into a warm brown colour, whilst the areas drawn with gold will remain a light grey. Small markings on the cherry branch that expose the unprotected copper may tarnish green, progressively showing the lichen growing on the cherry branch.
