In Her Waltz, figurative and abstract elements are seamlessly interwoven. A woman occupies the foreground, poised as if stepping out of the composition itself. Beside her, the outline of an imposing figure emerges—only the feet and a hand are distinctly visible. Traditionally associated with the first dance at a wedding, the waltz here takes on a more ambiguous tone; the woman appears to have disengaged from the expected pairing. In the background, a shadowy second figure can be glimpsed, alongside what resembles a Madonna-like form, framed within a niche-like structure. These layered and elusive components imbue the work with a sense of complexity and resistance to fixed interpretation. Executed in oil, the painting also incorporates passages drawn in charcoal, further enriching its textural and conceptual depth.
