A little painting from Central Park in New York.
Painting is my meditation.
And I’ve come to view the paintings I make as altars for the home or lived environment. Meaning that the paintings are objects to be viewed in passing or for extended periods multiple times a day and meant to connect you with something greater than yourself.
That’s also why I build the little cedar shelves they come with. The shelves are places to add your own offerings and mementos—a spot for symbols or reminders of a certain place or experience.
Around my home and studio they usually have small rocks, coins, or jewelry.
What would you add?
This painting I made while in New York for my solo show @space_776. I managed to sneak in a few paintings while I was there. It helps keep me grounded. I painted this about an hour before sunset on the Monday after my opening.
