Kromdraai Farm Clarens

My rendition of Kromdraai farm near Clarens commissioned by Richard Oliver.

Kromdraai Farm Clarens

This is my rendition of Kromdraai Farm in the Eastern Freestate of south Africa. It's been the home of the Oliver family for some twenty eight years.

The farm has developed over the intervening twenty eight years from being purely agricultural to becoming a thriving and successful farm holiday venue very close to the popular tourist town of Clarens in the Eastern Freestate.

Twenty seven years ago, when I moved from Capetown to Clarens I lived on this farm for two years. Richard Oliver was a small five or six years old boy back then. Now, twenty seven years later, that small five or six year old boy is a successful adult IT professional living and working in the bustling city of Amsterdam in Holland.

In 2024, twenty seven years later, Richard commissioned me to paint their family farm, obviously so as to have something of home from home in his own home in far away Holland.

This is my rendition of that.

Making this painting was an absolute joy, especially in light of the past, bringing back fond memories of those two precious years that now seem a lifetime away.

Thanks Richard for this commission... what a joy and privilege!! 🙏🏼
