In 2017 we spent some time in Greece on some of the most gorgeous Islands, as well as Mainland Athens, and then also some quaint villages on the mainland as well. My favourite was Nafplio. If ever you happen to find your way to Nafplio make sure you find a place to stay in the "Old City". It's superb!
Wherever we went in Greece, on the Islands or on the mainland, I fell head over heels in love with the winding alleyways, painted peeling window shutters, dilapidated doorways, old bikes and so many other fascinating artefacts so typical of that country. I came back with bucket loads of superb photos and have long since been looking forward to doing something with them.
At last I have (and more to come!).
This (A Greek Fisherman) is very different from your bog standard Bonney landscape. I just felt like getting out of the 'Karoo Landscape Box' for a change, and doing something completely different. This, as well as others still to come, are the outcome of that.
I'm doing these... yes, for fun... but mainly in the interests of getting out of the landscape box I've been in for some forty years.
Having said that though, you can rest assured that I'm not abandoning my tried and tested landscape genre. At the end of the day this is for 'viva la difference' and 'viva la difference' only.
I'll never stop travelling far and wide in our own superb country, and portraying our own fascinating landscape in the way I have been doing since day one. That will always be my 'go to' ... because it's always been strong in my DNA ... and it always will be! But 'Viva la difference' will for sure be living long into the future as well!
