Drinking glass series 'Line'
During her studies, she increasingly turned to glass as a material. Since 1974, Anna Ehrner has been designing utility glass and glass objects for the Swedish glass manufacturers Kosta, Boda and Orrefors. The glass series line from the 1980s is still one of the best-selling drinking glass series in Sweden today. [3] The glass series was complemented by the stainless steel cutlery line designed by Anna Ehrner for BodaNova. [4]
She was awarded the Excellent Swedish Form Award for her designs in 1992 and 1994 and was the winner of Swedish Glass in 1983. She studied at the Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington. From 1992 to 1995 she worked as a lecturer at the Konstfack. [4]
In addition to utility glass, she has also designed art objects for public spaces, such as in 2011 as part of the joint project Glasstrasse, in which seven well-known Swedish glass artists from the Kingdom of Crystal, including Bertil Vallien, Ulrica Hydman-Vallien and Kjell Engman, created glass sculptures that were permanently installed in Växjö's main street, Sandgärdsgatan. [5] Anna Ehrner's sculpture Växkraft is intended to remind us of Småland's nature and the green city of Växjö. [6] Some of her glass objects can be found in the permanent exhibitions of glass and art museums, including in Växjö and Kalmar.
Since 2016, she has dedicated herself to the development of a universal breakfast tableware. In addition to a set of various bowls, platters and plates, glass carafes and glass storage containers are also part of the Bruk series. In 2018, she added cups and plates made of white and colored porcelain to the series.
