Patti Cooprider has been expressing herself artistically every day since early childhood. She dazzled teachers and fellow students with her holiday murals that graced the classroom walls. In High School she won first place for an ad layout.
While living in Germany for years, Patti raised seven children and travelled extensively while earning a Bachelor's Degree in art history at the University of Maryland. She had the unique experience of taking art classes from The Prado in Madrid to the Pushkin in Moscow where original canvases, sculpture and other media could be studied under the auspices of her mentor Dr. Jean Mandola.
Her self-confident nature ushered her into the homes of living artists such as Henry Moore, Theo Tobiasse, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Marc Chagall and his wife Vava, with whom Patti maintained correspondence until Vava's death.
Patti focuses her enchantment with life to enrich as a vibrant docent for children to San Diego Art Outreach Program. She was involved in many projects and committees in the community for decades. In 2002, she was named a San Diego "Woman of Dedication", and honor reserved only for those of exceptional productivity and volunteerism.
Patti every day expressed her exuberance her life through her vibrant abstract impressionist paintings and drawings until her passing January 4, 2021. Her handmade greeting cards remain treasures to friends and acquaintances worldwide.
