Among the general weirdness and supernatural strangeness of Japan's yokai, certainly Aka-namé must be one of the weirdest. She skulks around uncleaned baths, looking to dig up slimy delicacies; you see, her name translates as the filth-licker. Despite her unappetizing diet, I found myself drawn to sympathize with her. After all, she doesn't mean any harm, and never judges.
