In just about every place in the world, the 7-spotted ladybug is a symbol of good luck. Where I live in Japan, the 七星瓢虫 [Nanahoshi Tentoumushi • Seven-star ladybug] is said to be a messenger, taking memos directly to the heavens (to the sun, specifically).
The latin species name is Coccinella Septumpunctata. This subspecies is a wee bit larger than the real-world critter, therefore “Macro”.
Crafted from vibrant washi and chiyogami papers, this piece eschews a conventional 3 dimensional form. Instead, it is composed of intricately cut and layered 2-dimensional tiers, exploring the play of colors and patterns while shining a spotlight on the illusion of depth. Housed in a repurposed vintage insect specimen display case. Perfect for collectors and nature lovers alike, this elevates any collection.
