This sculpture was made to honor same sex gentoo power couple Sphen and Magic and their adopted baby, Sphengic. The penguins, who live in the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium adopted a "back-up" egg donated by another Gentoo penguin pair, who only have resources to raise a single egg at a time. The couple successfully hatched and raised their adopted chick, forming a loving family bond.
