In this portrait, I combined representational and abstract elements to connect the figure to the background, in an integrated whole. The background design, painted first, has become the girl's dress. Her face is impressionistic, but realistic enough, with recognizable features. She is sitting facing away from the viewer, but she looks back over her shoulder, as if catching the viewer gazing at her. Her expression, which seems both direct and evasive, is enigmatic, thus the "secrets" of the title.
