Gallery 209
Rockville, MD
Gallery 209 provides a venue for local visual artists and sculptors to show their work through changing exhibits each month.
MessageThe design on this pot was achieved by first bisque firing the pot, glazing it with a clear glaze, and then using the sgraffito technique of scratching away the glaze to create the design on the rim. The pot was then raku fired, meaning it was taken from the kiln when red hot and plunged into combustible materials so that the areas where the glaze was scratched away become black.
