Mexico: A Culture of Great Diversity

We began our journey in the vibrant city of Oaxaca, where we stayed for four nights and five days. Our accommodation was a modest yet charming apartment nestled within a beautifully maintained courtyard. One of its standout features was a lovely rooftop garden, thoughtfully cared for by the owner, William, and his wife Nora — a renowned chef in Oaxaca whose culinary talents have garnered significant recognition.

While Oaxaca dazzles with its culture and cuisine, it’s important to note the serious challenges the city faces with water access. Water is rationed carefully, influencing daily routines such as cooking and showering. This has fostered a deep sense of mindfulness and respect for resources among locals and visitors alike.

During our stay, we dined at two exceptional restaurants in the city:

  • El Olivo Gastro Pub – A welcoming spot with a lively atmosphere, great music, and a creative menu.
  • Ocoate Cochina – An unforgettable culinary experience, offering the most delicious and inventive dishes we encountered on our trip.

We will relish returning to Mexico as soon as we obtain our Visas!
