Part of the Tonga Collection, "Color of Blue – Edge”, captures the precise moment when shallow reef waters dissolve into the depth of the open sea. This small-format (6x6) encaustic painting uses encaustic wax, pigments, and heat to build rich, oceanic layers that shift between aqua, cobalt, and indigo.
The tactile surface reveals both clarity and complexity: swirling blues and gentle textures suggest movement, light, and the unseen drop-off just beyond the reef’s edge. Created after my travels to the South Pacific, this piece is a meditation on thresholds—between land and sea, light and dark, stillness and motion.
A coastal memory, abstract seascapes, and the luminous power of encaustic. Available in Giclee, archival signed, fine art prints.
