Known for attracting travelers from around the world, Tamarack Marketplace now features a series of original oil paintings by Pat Cross illuminating Almost Heaven West Virginia. This series consists of her latest work spawned by an NEA and WVDCH Arts Grant that reveals the value of her lifelong theme, Inviting the Outdoors In.
“I often encourage folks to spend more time in the scenic outdoors for all the health benefits offered by that sensory interaction,” says Pat Cross. In this series, Pat Cross brings her decades of experience depicting the human form, but in this series, within the context of striking geographies in the Appalachian region.
This series of oil paintings includes engagements in the natural environment from the serenely sublime spectating of Amazing Graze to the highly-active sport Mountain Bikers Rock and everything in between. "There is such a wide variety of ways to experience the outdoors for people of all ages," says Pat Cross, "that I want to underscore that often overlooked privilege available to all economic populations here."
