If a picture is worth a thousand words, then an exhibit of several dozen story-telling artworks would fill volumes. The art of story-telling remains a most potent way to bridge the past to the present, the mature generation to the younger, and history into the future.
Into this exhibit, jurors selected the figurative artworks of Pat Cross, including Musical Mastery. In this drawing from a live session with a model, a skilled musician practices playing a handmade didgeridoo using a special breathing technique that produces a soothing drone. To mimic the sense of swirling movements within in the music, the artist embellished both the drawing and the frame with curled lines and shapes.
“In this drawing, I used a soft Terracotta colored conte' crayon on acid-free Strathmore paper for lasting impressions,” says Pat Cross of the medium used. The drawing, Musical Mastery mounts in a 23" tall by 19" wide wood frame wired and ready to hang in your home or office, wherever you want a reminder of the soothing salve of music.
