Jurors Select Pat Cross Art into 22nd West Virginia Biennial Exhibit.

The West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History (WVDACH) announces the accepted entries into the 22nd biennial West Virginia Juried Exhibition. The show opens with a Reception and Awards Ceremony at 2 pm on Sunday, November 14, 2021 with the exhibit continuing through February 14, 2022.

Since 1979, the exhibition has celebrated the exceptional talents and creativity of Mountain State artists. With over $33,000 slated for awards, the show offers tangible initiative to attract premium quality artworks from West Virginia’s most dedicated artists striving towards excellence in both craftsmanship and creative expression.

The artwork by Pat Cross juried into the show is an original oil painting titled, Appalachian Autumn. In this painting, an adventurous gal crosses the mountain stream as she navigates closer to the current that will lead her lure into the pool of trout she plans for supper. Meanwhile, the towering autumn hardwoods and crisp evergreens lean in to spectate the event, cheering colorfully, but calmly, for a successful harvest.

This painting illuminates how amply stocked Appalachian mountain streams in accessible, well-managed forests bring sustenance, healthy exercise, and profound refreshment into our lives.

Appalachian Autumn is one of a series of award-winning oil paintings by Pat Cross on the viability and desirability of living in West Virginia.
