Waving Stars and Stripes

In this 11” x 14” pen and ink drawing, the American flag waves freely and proudly by the town Veterans who receive the expressed gratitude and honor from the town’s citizens. The event takes place on the sprawling lawn of the Town Hall, a historic building that represents the active citizenry and patriotic leadership from its earliest years unto this day.

In the original design of the town, Eleanor Roosevelt intended the Town Hall to be in the heart of the community where it is accessible to the citizens to encourage active participation.

"Waving Stars and Stripes" is hand-drawn with archival quality, permanent India ink on acid-free Strathmore Bristol board for lasting impressions. The drawing is mounted in an acid-free, white matt with a black liner that sets off the crisp clarity of the black ink drawing. The matted artwork is mounted into a satin black 16” x 20” frame, wired and ready to hang in your home or office.

"Waving Stars and Stripes" is one of a series of oil paintings by Pat Cross on the desirability and viability of living in this small town designed by Eleanor Roosevelt and how that plays out into our modern day.

This program, Eleanor’s 2020 Vision, is presented with financial assistance from the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
