Art by Pat Cross reached a new collector visiting the exhibition Simple Folk at Tamarack Marketplace.
In this pen and ink drawing titled Hello My Friend, an adventurous child ascends a sycamore tree to peer into the hole and is pleasantly surprised to encounter a squirrel with equal curiosity. Meanwhile, another squirrel scampers down the trunk wary of the intruder.
"I wanted to portray the risk of initiating a relationship," says Pat Cross, adding, "and how those who reach out with more curiosity than fear are often rewarded with friendship."
The exhibit, Simple Folk, displays in the Gallery at Tamarack Marketplace until November 8, 2025.
