Thick and bold flowers defy the gentleness of their petals with a matte finish. They are beautiful but not fragile. I like to think of this symbolizing many of my friends. People see their beauty but they also know they are strong. Strength does not have to be viewed in an unaesthetically pleasing way. It can be real and evocative.
