The toolbox at the centre of this work belonged to an old piece of farm machinery. Like many objects it found a place in my studio for some time before I began drawing, photographing, and collaging the image until the present format emerged. The box, whose contents are largely undisturbed, contains simple yet essential tools used to keep vital machinery running.The box’s position opens it into the drawing and the plinth links it visually and thematically with other work.
