RoseWater Chandelier (Preliminary Drawing)
- graphite on Paper
- 30.5 x 26 in
- Corwin Bell
The only instruments used to create the Chandelier's design were a compass and a straight edge. The artist then utilized his experience in computer graphics to create a 3-D model of the piece. Corwin Bell states, "When I created the Rose Water Chandelier the challenge was to make a water exhibit without using large amounts of water. The Chandelier creates an immersive water environment and experience through projection. The Chandelier was conceived and sketched, and then the design was created in a 3D-modeling package on a computer." The design for the petals of the Rose Water Chandelier uses the same sacred geometry that designers used to build stained glass windows in European Gothic cathedrals.
