A painting of two halves.
I was driving towards Rhayader on the way to visit family in South Wales. I saw the most amazing amazing sunset to my right. It was getting late and I couldn't stop at the time. I committed the details to memory.
I painted a large 4' x 4' square oil on canvas back in the studio. I painted this sunset from memory. After a few months, I decided to cut the painting in half! When it was together on one piece, I called it "THE PURPLE MOUNTAINS OF RHAYADER'
This half is called 'SNOW IN THE VALLEY'.
The right half is called "WINTER IN MID WALES'. That half of the painting was exhibited in the 2020 Exhibition of Contemporary Welsh Art London and my solo exhibition 'Remixing the Landscape' held at The Welsh Parliament 2019.
'SNOW IN THE VALLEY' sold prior to the London exhibition.
