"Watchers of Eternity" speaks to the painting's unsettling yet captivating atmosphere, hinting at the unseen forces observing us and the timelessness of their gaze. The painting, which is rooted in my childhood experiences, delves into the uncanny feeling of being watched in nature. The fragmented face, composed of multiple eyes and planes, confronts the viewer directly, its gaze seeming to pierce through and beyond them. This fractured visage symbolizes my fragmented perception of reality, shaped by the ever-present sense of unseen watchers in the mountains and by the river. The horns surrounding the eyes, reminiscent of a satyr or faun, evoke a sense of duality, hinting at a deep connection to the natural world.
The vibrant colors, a hallmark of the painting, further emphasize the constructed nature of reality. The fiery oranges and reds juxtaposed against cool blues create a sense of disorientation, urging the viewer to question their perceptions. This deliberate use of color mirrors my belief that color, like reality itself, is a product of the mind's interpretation.
