Artist Statement:

I wanted to create a fun, playful piece that incorporates the beer making process. I decided to focus on the famous hops, painting them in the bold blue colors associated with the brand. Both of the hops have been given the addition of a gold star, to symbolize quality and to further tie in to the company's brand. The hop on the right acts as a doorway into the brewery. The leaves are peeled back along with the wall to reveal the brewing equipment inside along with the cask barrels. I wanted to create an interactive part to the mural, so I created a character out of one of the tanks. It is inviting people passing by for a photo opportunity and to come in for a cold drink. The beer in the mug offers a chance to inject the gold color of the brand, as reflected light and gives a magical glow to the scene. I believe this mural will appeal to everyone who loves craft beer as much as I do, and add to the vibrancy of the cultural district.

The mural took my wife, Sara Cook, and myself 50 hours to paint over the course of 6 days.
