Sometimes a painting begins as a simple exercise and gradually becomes something more.

This piece started as a study of palm trees, inspired by a reference photo generously shared by Tammy Boss from Bermuda. As the painting developed, the scene felt too quiet and unfinished, so I added a distant sailboat and foreground rocks to create a sense of story and balance.

The result is a peaceful coastal moment — a gently leaning palm shaped by ocean breezes, soft grasses in the foreground, and a sailboat drifting quietly along the horizon. The composition evokes the feeling of a warm, unhurried afternoon by the sea.
