This is a plein air painting. I was in the Uinta mountains in UT. I paint there often, but this was my first trip to that spot this year. I hardly recognized my favorite spot - it was cleared by the Forest Service as a fire prevention exercise. My intimate, closed up, protected spot became clear, see-through, open and full of burnt tree stumps.
