STATEMENT: Rough heavy texture reflects the roughness of the rural Ozarks to me. Cattle have rubbed up against this house and have worn off the lower siding. The title “Sword of Damocles” seems appropriate to the house as my family occupied it for a few short years during my childhood and many difficult and unsettling things happened there.
