About Lizzy’s Shoes
Lizzy’s red boots are much more than a practical choice—they’re a symbol of the incredible journey she’s lived. Purchased in 2012 when she moved to China with no winter boots and a lot of uncertainty, these shoes have carried her through countries, climates, and phases of life. From Beijing to Shanghai, Hanoi, Switzerland, Los Angeles, Black Rock City, and now Atlanta, they’ve been with her every step of the way.
Twelve years of wear and tear have left their mark, but Lizzy believes it only adds to the charm of these boots. Covered in a layer of dust from her time at Burning Man in the Nevada desert, every glance at them reminds her of the wonderful places they’ve been.
These boots symbolize a life well-lived. They were bought by a recent college graduate in a new country, facing challenges like language barriers and unpredictable daily life. Now, they sit in the front closet of a home Lizzy shares with her husband and two children, a home filled with predictable and fulfilling days.
These boots have walked with Lizzy through the many phases of adulthood—from a single explorer to a career woman to a stay-at-home mom and wife. They’ve been with her through cities, parties, weddings, grocery runs, and library trips.
As Lizzy looks toward the future, she has no doubt these boots will continue to walk with her through the next chapter of her life—children’s concerts and sports games, trips with friends, events she’s managing, and date nights with her husband. These boots will support her as she embraces a life full of potential and growth.
The boots’ deep red color is a nod to her roots in Kansas, reminding her of Dorothy and the journey she’s taken. Though they’re a knockoff of Dr. Martens, Lizzy sees them as a symbol of her counterculture spirit—taking different roads, yet always moving forward on the same path as everyone else.
