"Threshold" welcomes visitors to the Riverwalk in downtown Northfield (at 219 Water Street, on the west side of the Cannon River). It is the work of Kristopher Swanson, a Northfield native and St. Olaf College graduate. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council (SEMAC) thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts & cultural heritage fund.

The sculpture was purchased by the Northfield Downtown Development Corporation (NDDC) thanks to SEMAC funding and installed by the City of Northfield in summer 2020. This was a highly collaborative project with support from the Northfield's Arts and Culture Commission (ACC) and the Northfield Roundtable.
