Sven Dalsgaard (1914–1999) was one of Denmark’s most influential postwar avant-garde artists. Working across painting, collage, and conceptual art, he often incorporated everyday objects and text into his compositions, questioning meaning and perception.

In Et Andet Sted (Elsewhere), a field of soft blue and gray is interrupted by a crossed-out playing card, geometric marks, and upside-down lettering. The combination of humor, negation, and dislocation reflects Dalsgaard’s interest in shifting contexts and inverting expectations. The verso inscription — the handwritten title “Elsewhere” — emphasizes the work’s conceptual dimension, inviting viewers to consider alternate spaces and meanings beyond the canvas.
