These lovely flowers come from Resurrection bulbs and grow in a very interesting way. The foliage, which is not illustrated comes up in the spring. When it gets too hot outside they die. When the weather cools down the delicate purple flowers emerge, usually on my daughters birthday, September 4. Cami was a very sensitive soul, and was unhappy that she had to grow up. At age 21 she took her own life. As I mourn for my loss, I paint images that celebrate the years I did have her. These bulbs were a gift from my sister and were presented to me the day of Cami's funeral. Following the funeral my grandson helped me plant the bulbs. They did not bloom the first year, neither did my apple, peach or pear trees. All were in mourning. But the next year, on her birthday...WOW!
