I painted this from a cell phone photo I took one night after visiting the Temple with my son Levi. The sky is done with watercolor on aquabord. I then put 3 coats of clear gesso over the whole board and transferred the image. Painting this Temple view was exhilarating and came together without a hitch.
I've shown it at Temple square with the Inspirational Artist Society at their annual Christmas show in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. A young man commented about the fact that I had left the garbage can in the composition...hmmm. Maybe I should have taken it out? But I decided not to, because it represents the world. While the beautiful fence encloses one in the purity and beauty of the Lords House.
This view may change drastically, as the renovations on the SLC Temple are now underway.
