Josie's Cabin was built by a single woman. She'd been married 5 times, and when she was accused of murdering her last husband she got sick of society and fled to the mountains and homesteaded a piece of land. She lived to be 100 years old, making this cabin cozy and entertaining Butch Cassidy and his gang on occasion.
It took 4 trips painting en-plein-air for me to get this image figured out. I needed that awesome 100 year old tree in the painting, and the cabin. So I got me a long board to paint on, and used panoramic on my iPhone to help with the composition.
