This painting represents the silver lining found in a very difficult time when our country all but shut-down due to the Corona Virus. My silver lining was slowing down, and taking time to do things I never do in my busy busy life as a mother, grandmother, school teacher and a professional artist. I've grown Hollyhocks in my yard for nearly 20 years. I've painted a lot of Hollyhocks. Often when people would see my paintings, they would talk about how Hollyhocks remind them of their Grandma and the hollyhock dolls they made as a child, I would nod my head like I knew what they were talking about. I didn't. So one quiet lovely day, while outside tending to my garden, I looked up on YouTube how to make Hollyhock dolls. I was almost embarrassed about how easy they are. I made lots of them, and then wished my granddaughters were there to play with me.
