To the one I love was painted intuitively. As I turned the piece 90 degrees every few minutes, adding marks and stepping back, I realized that it was becoming very emotional. I found myself thinking of my mother, who died when I was in my early 20's. Once the piece felt complete, I wrote a letter to her in one section with a pencil. The piece is varnished with Gamblin's Gamvar to set the pencil and the charcoal in. Framed in a black float frame.
