My process: I lay down color in intuitive ways using various tools. It differs each time. Sometimes I add a lot of water to encourage the colors to mix organically. I will also use a brayer or other tool to make chaotic/energetic marks or something absorbent (old towels, scrap paper, old t-shirts) to pick up excess moisture.
I then let it all dry and come back with fresh eyes. I spend some time looking at the texture. Things pop out at me through the psychological process of pareidolia. I then chase those visions and bring them to life using paint, paint markers, oil pastels, watercolor crayons, etc.
I go through a process of pushing and pulling the space until it "clicks" for me. Along the way, words sometimes come to me and start morphing into a title. Other times I do a deeper analysis, post-completion, as seen here.
