This painting reminds me of shallow puddles reflecting the colors of store displays and buildings hanging over them. It reminds me of polluted waterways and their haunting beauty. It reminds me of rainbows on sidewalks and roads made from oil combining with water and light.
Duality, how opposite things exist together, is a big theme in my art. What to do with that? A lot of times, I really don’t know. But somehow, there’s something comforting to me in the co-existence of opposites. Like no matter how much suffering, destruction, loss, and pain, there’s always something to be found, to reclaim, and to love. Sometimes, I find that co-existence very confusing and I wrestle with it. And still, I keep coming back to it.
