You Said You Had All the Answers by Nicole Bricker Image: You Said You Had All the Answers is a dynamic portrait of the Artist’s son that captures mundane moments which make up the everyday relationship between the world and technology. The work begins with a layer of bright ground, then a charcoal sketch creates the image, layers of thick impasto oil paint help create the story using untraditional color palette emulating our changing experiences with growing use of technology. We are witnessing teenager’s simultaneous embarrassment and attachment to his mother as well as technology. The sardonic use of the halo emphasizes the teen’s current level of self-esteem, just waiting on the precipice to break.
