The Saint and strelitzia

In my work I explore the urban environment and the relationship between architecture and nature. The freedom of the natural world against the constraints of built world, and their effects on people. My paintings a devoid of people but not of human presence.
‘The saint and the strelitzia’ depicts a contemplative garden within the confines of an urban hospital, straddling the outside world. Within this garden A statue of Saint Joseph and a Strelitzia, a tropical plant often associated with hope and rebirth. This small oasis provides solace for the religious and the seekers of solace alike. For some, this verdant haven stands as the last refuge of nature's embrace.
