This portrait is of my sister Colleen Stapleton, a talented contemporary Australian artist based in Sydney. It is part of an ongoing series of portraits I am painting in collaboration with floral artist Amy Clement, who is creating a personalized headpiece for each sitter. The intent of this portrait was to portray Colleen’s love and academic pursuit of classical art, drawing inspiration from 17th Century Dutch master influences.
