This art is my abstract representation of a geopolitical world full of continuously heated disputes with bleakness. I likened the current world to a shattered mirror which is why I depicted this art as a broken or cracked mirror. As the ancient belief, a fractured mirror symbolizes misfortune and thus reflects what is happening now. It seems world peace is gradually moving away from the vocabulary of some world leaders who choose war instead of peace. In my observation, our world is no longer united; although the world should be interconnected and interdependent, they are moving toward decoupling and regrouping. Some superpower wants to maintain hegemony; others wish for competency; others want retaliation, etc. In my opinion, we are already facing a new cold war in this era. Both sides of these major superpowers accused each other, leading to misunderstanding. If perhaps they miscalculated the situation, it would lead us to global uncertainty, thus resulting in a shattered world.
This multi-colored textured acrylic house paint on the mat board is my very first experimental art. A combination of nature and intention is the two phases in my artistic approach in my multi-colored art medium. By scattering random acrylic house paints on the mat board panel using merely primary colors, wrapping it up with clustered recycled and unsorted kinds of cellophane (such as plastic grocery bags), and allowing one to three weeks of curing time is my first phase of the process. After a week of healing time or more, I will carefully remove the laid kinds of cellophane from my base art panel. I will then set it aside for final drying and flattening. The fun part of this process is that it always provides unexpected results; I call it "my surprise art." Once my base art panel is dried and flattened, the second and final phase comes into play. I will then examine the art piece by viewing it from various angles and reading what nature art gave me by analyzing the appearance, shape, texture, and colors. I will then complete the story through my wild imagination by incorporating related art ideas I have in mind for the final touch revealing the textured marbling and rainy effect, the crater-like texture, and the obscurity of my art characters.
