I painted "Ever Reaching" as a counterpoint to "Domesticated". Both pieces were created during the 2023 Red Wing Plein Air event. "Domesticated" is of a well-groomed vineyard, with grape vines trimmed to grow on trellises. "Ever Reaching" is nature's version of grape vines choosing to grow along the field fence completely free to grow however it wants. "Domesticated" was painted on a bright, sunny day with warm sunshine, whereas "Ever Reaching" was painted on an overcast day with cool light. In fact, this painting had to be finished in the studio because I had to leave early due to rain.
