What fascinated me about this painting is how the sunlight interacts with the paper thin petals of the hollyhocks. Sometimes the same exact flower looked fluorescent and other times faded out depending how the light hit it. These flowers bloom for a short time every summer, but since they grow along the sidewalk in the middle of a busy town, I'd imagine they have tales to tell each other.
I used a limited palette of:
PY184 Permanent Lemon Yellow
PV19 Quinacridone Violet
PB29 Ultramarine Blue
PW6 Titanium White
